The Solution – Pole Star’s Vegetation Asset Management Systems
That’s where Pole Star can help: leverage the digital capabilities of VAMS to capture, manage, transmit, and analyse data that highlights the inventory, condition, and any associated defects involving all vegetation types across a road network, as well as the lifecycle modelling associated with those and adjoining assets. Monitor whether to fix the urgent problems fast or incorporate them into regular maintenance schedules.
Use real-time data to prioritise repairs, optimise the use of potentially scarce resources and budgets, and refine long-term maintenance planning in an efficient, easy-to-use method to ensure the sustainability and proactive asset management of critical highway infrastructure.
Key Capabilities
Our Vegetation Asset Management System (VAMS) utilises hand held smart devices to capture, record, and report highway vegetation management assets, defects and condition scores. VAMS:
- Provides real-time asset monitoring, ensuring engineers and senior managers can make informed, data-driven decisions at the optimal time.
- Produces bespoke insights and data to deliver predictive maintenance, based on common issues and incidents across a highway network, to minimise disruption and costs.
- Helps reduce the workload of complying with key legal and regulatory requirements, including the Highways Act 1980, LD 117 (Landscape Design), and GM 701 (Asset delivery and asset maintenance requirements).
- Support BS5837 covering Tree surveys.
- Pinpoints critical issues within 500mm, using a Geographic Information System (GIS) that leverages 3rd party data, including Google Maps, to highlight the potential impact on services, whilst supporting site visit planning and preparation, maximising resources and productivity.
- Is an easy-to-use, fast-to-deploy platform that utilises any smart device, including iOS and Android mobile and tablet devices.
- It supports the ability to adapt and update forms and reports efficiently on-site and offline as new vegetation scenarios and issues develop.
- Integrates with mobile networks to provide instant feedback and alerting processes to senior management, or collects information in offline mode to send the data, once network coverage is available.
- Fully integrates into management dashboards to complement other alerting and monitoring systems to provide a holistic perspective of a highway network’s real-time condition.
- Currently supports the classification and management of over 26,000 trees, 14,000 tree surveys, and 12,000 Ash Die Back assessments across the UK.
